The Good Food Catalyst is a nonprofit organization in Chicago, IL. Our enduring goals are a healthier, environmentally sustainable, and economically dynamic food system— one that makes local food available and attainable to all, grown by individuals and organizations implementing ecological and fair practices to achieve our mission of Good Food on Every Table.

The Good Food Accelerator (GFA) program works to support Good Food and Beverage businesses as they grow, especially in communities that have been traditionally underserved or underrepresented. We support entrepreneurs through cohort-based accelerator programs, workshop series, and mentorship.

Position Description:

The GFA Program Coordinator will assist the Good Food Catalyst Program Manager and CEO in expanding the GFA program, while maintaining its current success. The Coordinator will assist in maintaining current relationships with our network and building new relationships, while collaborating with consultants and volunteers to carry out the goals and objectives of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Training/Workshops (50%)

  • Provide logistical support, guidance, and materials to partners before, during, and after workshops
  • Manage implementation of innovative programming
  • Attend all programming sessions with Program Manager
  • Responsible for administrative duties (calendar invites, instructor confirmation, etc.)
  • Keep office prepped and ready for sessions

Outreach + Marketing (30%)

  • Create and manage the preparation and distribution of outreach materials in collaboration with the Marketing Team
  • Run GFA Instagram and Facebook pages and keep websites up to date
  • Identify community partners for workshop collaboration
  • Research and recruit new food business founders for program participation
  • Research and recruit new Instructors, Mentors, and Workshop Leaders
  • Uphold and continue to build community partnerships, specifically in the south and west sides of Chicago

Metrics + Internal Administration (20%)

  • Organize and keep all program metrics sheets and databases up to date
  • Collect testimonials from volunteers and business participants
  • Lead grant reporting and execution of projects as outlined in grants
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • Stellar customer service and communication skills. This position is external and outward facing
  • Strong levels of competence and reliability
  • 2+ years in office administration or non-profit settings. Experience working with USDA-funded programming is a plus
  • Background in recruitment and/or community outreach
  • Experience working for or with communities from underserved or diverse areas
  • Experience managing professional social media platforms, gaining followers, and keeping up a consistent and branded voice across all platforms
  • Event planning experience
  • Highly organized with data collection and internal document updates
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on multiple tasks, while still completing goals on time
  • Knowledgeable of all Microsoft and Google platforms
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Always extremely prepared and on time for meetings
  • Driven to support small businesses and grow local food systems, with a mindset of inclusiveness
  • Flexible and able to step into other roles when needed, as we are a small team
  • Preferably has access to a car, but is not required

Position Status:

  • Full-time, salaried, exempt status
  • Competitive benefits including 401k match program, healthcare, and PTO
  • Nonprofit-competitive compensation commensurate with experience and skill level
  • Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week and will require some evenings and weekends

Work Environment:

This job is hybrid working from home, at the Chicago office space, and in the field as the position requires. We expect that team members are still presenting professionally for all video calls and meetings when working away from the office. Expect required, weekly in-person programming sessions, staff meetings, and occasional evening events.  Chicago office: 328 N Albany Ave, Chicago IL

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some physical activity is required. This would require the ability to lift and carry office or event equipment or move some office furniture.

The Good Food Farmer Training Program helps farmers and growers build profitable agricultural businesses. Our programming covers food safety practices, financial planning, and marketing strategies. Working together with local community organizations and educational institutions, we provide the insights and tools to help farmers and growers become successful business owners, whether they’re located in rural areas or in the middle of the city.

Position Description:

The Farmer Training Program Coordinator will assist the Good Food Catalyst Program Manager and CEO in revamping and expanding the Farmer Training program.
